A motorcyclist survived after slamming into an SUV in Cheatham County Tuesday night even though he was wasn't wearing a helmet.
Authorities reported the accident took place in a construction zone on River Road in Ashland City when the SUV came to a stop around 9:20 p.m.
The motorcyclist was travelling at a high rate of speed and slammed on his brakes when he reached the SUV, according to a traffic report.
The motorcycle then crashed into a guardrail, fell to the ground and slid into the rear of the SUV.
The 21-year-old driver wasn't wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was injured. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
His condition was not immediately known.
The driver of the SUV was uninjured.
Authorities also noted the motorcyclist did not have the necessary driver's license to operate a motorcycle.
