Thomas Barnes, 28, of Lebanon, was arrested late Monday night.
MT. JULIET, Tenn. -
A man was apprehended mere moments after he attempted to rob at local Cracker Barrel restaurant late Monday night.
The manager of the restaurant located in Mt. Juliet told police he was locking the door around 10:30 p.m. when he noticed a white male approaching with a handgun.
The man, later identified as 28-year-old Thomas Barnes, was walking toward the store at a rapid pace, so the manager locked the doors and ordered all the employees to remain inside while he called 911.
Barnes allegedly shook and banged on the door before fleeing to a gas station across the street in an older Ford Bronco.
No one was injured during the incident.
Officers spotted the vehicle at Mapco and took Barnes into custody. They also recovered a loaded handgun, which proved to be stolen.
He was charged with aggravated robbery and theft of property.
Two other people with Barnes at the time of his apprehension will not be charged.
