Woman, 23, found shot in north Nashville, later dies

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A woman was killed in a shooting that took place in the Whites Creeks area Monday night.

The victim, 23-year-old Shavonda Hodge, was found critically wounded, lying next to a dumpster in the parking lot of the Phyllis Wheatley retirement home located in the 500 block of Vanderhorst Drive.

Police are unsure why Hodge was in the parking lot.

Witnesses reported hearing several shots around 8:15 p.m.

Hodge was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she died.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information on the shooting or who has knowledge of Hodge's whereabouts prior to the shooting is urged to contact Metro police or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
