Man's neck cut in stabbing at downtown club

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A man was seriously injured in a stabbing in downtown Nashville early Sunday morning.

The incident occurred just before 1 a.m. at Throwdown Liquid Nightclub located at 128 Second Avenue North between Commerce Street and Broadway.

Metro police told News 2 a man allegedly came at another man with a knife and cut the victim in the neck.

The victim was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he underwent surgery and was last listed in stable condition.

A witness told News 2 everyone inside the club ran out while the fight was happening and that it was a scary situation.

Some witnesses were cut on their arms and legs as they were trying to get out of the way.  One was treated for minor injuries and two others declined treatment.

Police questioned a person of interest and plan on reviewing surveillance footage.

The weapon used in the stabbing was not recovered.  The investigation is ongoing.
