NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A burglar caught in the act by Metro police Friday attempted to get out of his arrest by claiming he was at his grandmother's house.

Police responded to The Cloister at Saint Henry, a retirement community on Marquette Drive just west of Belle Meade, after 33-year-old Randall Kirsch was seen entering a woman's home.

When police arrived to the home they spotted Kirsch inside.  He answered the door and told them he was at his grandmother's house.

Police contacted the homeowner who told them the man was not her grandson.

Kirsch was found carrying a pillow case with the woman's belongings inside.

He was charged with aggravated burglary and booked into the Metro jail on $35,000 bond.
