The Richland Flower Shop will fill more than 100 orders Friday for Valentine's Day.While some florists are dealing with weather delivery issues, store owner Sharon Harwell said her biggest challenge has been the flowers themselves."A lot of people want yellow roses instead of the traditional red. The tulips weren't that great this year, either," she said.Harwell said her average bouquet takes anywhere from five to 20 minutes. That's why she urged customers to order early."Most men never will, but I tell them to do it anyway," Harwell added. She has tips for those looking to keep their flowers looking fresh longer:
Recut stems at an angleKeep them in fresh waterThere shouldn't be greenery below the water lineKeep them away from heat and vents
The Richland Flower Shop, located at 5913 Charlotte Pike in west Nashville, expects to deliver from until 6 p.m. Friday.
