NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A teen was arrested Thursday after he allegedly stole four pairs of Nike Jordans from a man selling them on Craigslist.

Authorities reported Javonta Perkins, 18, met the seller at the Checkers on the corner of Trinity Lane and Gallatin Pike to buy the shoes after responding to a Craigslist ad.

When the victim showed Perkins the shoes, Perkins allegedly agreed to purchase them. Instead of giving the victim money, he grabbed the shoes and walked away.

The victim, shocked, said, "What?" to which Perkins stated not to follow him because he had a gun.

The victim's grandfather, however, followed Perkins to the 1000 block of Dozier Drive and called police.

Officers knocked on the door and were met by a woman who said no one had just come inside. They showed her Perkins' phone number and asked if she knew who it belonged to. She stated it was her grandson.

Perkins then revealed himself from underneath a daybed in the living room. He was allegedly wearing one of the stolen pairs of Jordans.

The other three pairs were located underneath the bed.

He was charged with theft of merchandise over $500, as the four pairs together were worth over $600.
