Woman shot by officers after pointing pistol dies

A 52-year-old woman who was shot by officers on Tuesday night after directing a pistol at them has died from her injuries.

Pamela Hutcherson died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville Wednesday evening.

Police were called to her Antioch town home on Bridgecrest Drive after her daughter called police and said she had fired a gun at the family dog inside the residence and was threatening to take her own life.

The two responding officers fired shots at Hutcherson in defense of themselves when she directed a gun toward them.

Three other people were inside the town home at the time.

They were not injured.

The two officers involved in the shooting remain on routine administrative assignment as an investigation continues.
