VICTORIA, B.C. -

A Canadian woman kept on life support to keep her unborn baby alive gave birth to a baby boy on Saturday.

Robyn Benson, 32, was 22 weeks pregnant when she suffered from a massive brain bleed and was declared brain dead, ABC News reports.

Dylan Benson's desire to keep his wife alive produced an overwhelming amount of support from friends and strangers. Together they raised more than $150,000 to help him pay medical expenses.

The baby's birth for Dylan Benson meant saying goodbye to his wife.

"It is with a heavy heart but also with extreme proudness that I am posting this update," he said on his blog and Facebook. "On Saturday evening, my beautiful and amazing son, Iver Cohen Benson, was born."

Dylan Benson continued to write that he was proud of his wife and knows that she will live on in both his heart and in their son.
