KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -

The Gators defense stifled Tennessee's offense in its first matchup of the season, leading Cuonzo Martin to say that it was the best defense he has seen in his time at Tennessee.

The Vols made just 26.8 percent of their shots from the field and went 1-19 from the 3-point line in the 67-41 loss.

Jarnell Stokes scored 16 points, while the team's leading scorer, Jordan McRae, managed just five. The rest of the starters scored 10 points combined and Josh Richardson was held scoreless for the game.

McRae has averaged 23.4 points a game since the 26 point loss.

Florida is on a 15-game winning streak dating back to a December 10 win against then No. 13 Kansas.

Tennessee (15-8, 6-4 SEC) is looking for a win against No. 3 Florida (21-2, 10-0) to help boost their resume for the NCAA tournament. They have lost to Florida at home just once since 2005.
