2 shot, 2 detained after guns fired amidst altercation

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Two people were shot and two detained after an altercation broke out in east Nashville Sunday afternoon.

Police said two groups of people got into a fight in the 500 block of Sylvan Street at the James Cayce homes around 3 p.m. when the shooting occurred.

Five rounds were fired during the altercation by two different subjects.

One woman was struck by a bullet in her hip and transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

A man was struck in his calf and driven to Skyline Medical Center in a private vehicle.

Neither of their injuries are considered life-threatening.

A 17-year-old boy and 30-year-old man were taken into custody for questioning.  It was not immediately clear if they were the shooters.

Charges have yet to be filed.  The investigation is ongoing.
