ST. PAUL, Minn. -

Nashville Predators announcer Pete Weber suffered a heart attack Thursday morning in Minnesota.

Weber has since undergone a successful heart procedure and will remain hospitalized for a few days before returning to Nashville.

The longtime announcer took to his Twitter account to thank fans for their well wishes and to say he is resting comfortably.

He said he first knew something was wrong when he went to the gym Thursday morning and just didn't feel right.

He spoke with the team's trainers who immediately called an ambulance.

Weber has been the team's announcer since the team's inception in 1998.

Also on Thursday, Predators General Manager David Poile was rushed to a Minnesota hospital after he was struck in the face by a hockey puck.

The Predators lost in overtime to the Minnesota Wild Thursday night.  Weber missed the game and is also expected to miss Saturday's game against Anaheim.
