NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A man was arrested for promoting prostitution after police say he was conspiring with his girlfriend to have sex for money.

An undercover detective made contact with the woman through Backpage.com and arranged to have sex with her for $500.

The detective then met the woman at the Airport Inn and Suites on Atrium Way where she gave the price of $480.

About 5 minutes later, police report Zachary Scharf, the woman's boyfriend, entered the room.

Officers found a text on the woman's phone from Scharf which showed he was aware of the arrangement for sex and reportedly told her to take no less than $500 for the act.

Police say Scharf, 25, also admitted to his knowledge of the situation.

He was arrested and charged with promoting prostitution.

He is being held on $3,500 bond.
