Winter weather leads to power outages, school closings

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Several school districts are closed on Monday due to slick spots from the rain and the winter weather that should exit Middle Tennessee around daybreak.

Metro-Davidson, Clarksville-Montgomery, and Cheatham county schools have closed.  Rutherford, Wilson and Williamson County Schools will open two hours late. For an updated list of closings, visit wkrn.com/closings.

Temperatures are in the 20s across Kentucky and the northwest corner of Middle Tennessee, so that's where problems on the roads will be most prevalent. A truck accident has I-65's northbound lanes shut down in southern Kentucky.

Around 8 p.m. Sunday, power outages were reported in the Donelson and Hermitage areas. Laurie Parker, spokesperson for Nashville Electric Service, told News 2 the cause was a utility pole that caught fire.

It affected over 2,600 customers.  Check the latest outages with the Nashville Electric Service on their Web site.
