NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A fire station was dedicated to the longest serving firefighter in Nashville on Saturday.

District Chief Bobby Connelly retired in February of 2013 after serving 53 years with the Nashville Fire Department.

Serving 53 years makes Connelly the longest serving employee.

On Saturday, Station 9 was dedicated in Connelly's honor.

The station will now be called the Bobby Connelly Station.

Connelly said the thing he will miss most about being a firefighter is the people.
