Love the Dress event offers prom dresses at reduced prices

FRANKLIN, Tenn. -

For many high school students, prom is a night to remember, but for girls who can't afford a dress, it can be stressful.

Volunteers help put on a Love the Dress event that allows girls to trade in an old dress or buy a new one way under budget.

"Our mission is just to send them out there feeling beautiful in a two to five hundred dollar dress that they wouldn't be able to afford, for 20 dollars," said Brianna Stedman.

Organizers hung up more than 500 styles at Columbia Community College in Franklin on Saturday.

With hundreds of girls trying to find the perfect dress, the process is quick.

All dress proceeds will fund counseling programs for young women battling eating disorders or overcoming personal obstacles.
