NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

When Kacey Musgraves and her band lit up the Grammy stage Sunday night, they did so with the help of two local designers.

JandHP is a private, Nashville-based label, made up of Jonathan and Holly Powell. The tailor-made suits worn by Musgraves' band were the work of the husband and wife designers.

"That's surreal, for sure," said Jonathan. "There's nothing like that. It doesn't really feel like it's happening."

"It definitely was a very cool moment," added Holly. "Dream come true, I think, for sure."

Work on the intricate details of the Grammy gear started one year ago, when a single band member stopped by the shop. Musgraves and the others soon followed.

The band initially wore the designs, minus the lights, for the video "Follow Your Arrow." Then, it was on to the Grammys.

Kacey Musgraves wore a dress designed by Enrique, while the band wore the JandHP-designed suits to perform the same song.

"It's exposure that I'd say every small business works for. This is what you want," Jonathan told Nashville's News 2.

The exposure wasn't limited to Kacey Musgraves' band.

Jason Roy, lead singer of Grammy-nominated Christian group Building 429 also donned a JandHP creation for the big night.

But JandHP designs aren't just for the stars.

Men can purchase custom, made-to-measure suits by Jonathan.

"Our motto really is ‘Every guy needs a good suit,'" he said.

Women can go online for ready-to-wear, vintage-inspired pieces by Holly.

"We figured out from the beginning that I would be in charge of all women's designs, and he would be in charge of all men's designs," she said.

Jonathan and Holly began offering their designs online from California five years ago. When they decided to settle down and open up a brick-and-mortar shop, they set their sights on Nashville.

"We just kind of felt the need that Nashville needed more fashion inside of it, so we decided to expand our company here by opening the shop," Holly said.

"We believe in Nashville and what the fashion industry is doing here," Jonathan added.

In addition to his fashion skills, Jonathan is also a singer, performer and songwriter.

He plays soul music under the name Jonny P, but his music will have to wait because Jonathan and Holly have more design work ahead of them.

The jackets worn at the Grammys were ruined by holes made for the lights placed inside the jackets. JandHP will remake the suits for the band.

It appears the stylish couple has made a seamless transition to Music City.

JandHP is located at 717 Porter Road in east Nashville.
