CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -

Eleven students were transported to the hospital with minor injuries after two Clarksville school buses were involved in a crash Monday afternoon.

The accident occurred around 2:50 p.m. at a red-light at the intersection of Peachers Mill and Tiny Town roads.

Officials said both buses, which were carrying around 40 students from West Creek Middle and High schools, were headed north on Peachers Mill Road when a Clarksville-Montgomery County School bus rear ended the second school bus.

The driver of the bus, Erika Gaines, claimed her brakes went out, causing her to run into the other bus.

Authorities did not find a problem with the bus' brakes following an inspection.

Gaines has since been cited with following too closely.
