Nine people were arrested Thursday and Friday after an extensive investigation into the trafficking of marijuana from California to Nashville.

Metro police stated the arrests included two Nashville men, John Houghland and Brian Bailey, accused of being the local principals who received shipments of high-grade West Coast marijuana then distributed it in small quantities to street dealers.

Houghland, 39, and Bailey, 40, reportedly paid anywhere from $3,000 and $3,600 per pound of pot, then it would be brought to Nashville through a courier or concealed shipping containers transported by commercial carriers.

A California man, 64-year-old George Auzans, is the alleged supplier for both Nashville men.  He was arrested Thursday, January 23 at a local motel.

Police believe Auzans intended on leaving the city with a large cash payment.

Bailey and Auzans were jailed in lieu of $500,000 bond each.  Houghland was jailed in lieu of $250,000 bond.

Six others were arrested for their involvement in the tracking ring.

Cheryl Brashears, 46, of Dickson, is accused of being a courier who transported marijuana across the country.  She was stopped in Utah with 127 pounds of marijuana, which police believe was headed to Tennessee.  She was jailed in lieu of $150,000 bond.

Charwan Houghland, 39, who is John Houghland's wife, is accused of receiving payments from street dealers.  She was jailed in lieu of $75,000 bond.

Brian Bailey's wife, 37-year-old Amy Bailey, is also accused of receiving payments from street dealers.

Trimeco Martin, 38, allegedly distributed and resold marijuana provided by Bailey.  He is being held in lieu of $150,000 bond.

Andrew Moore, 34, is accused of allowing his home to be used as a drop-off and stash house for marijuana shipments and cash.

Ronald Rowlette, 43, allegedly moved and hid marijuana in order to avoid detection from law enforcement.  He is also accused of receiving marijuana for resale from Bailey.

During a search on Thursday, 48 pounds of marijuana were seized from a stash house in the 400 block of Hunt Club Road, not far from Percy Warner Park.

Over $300,000 of cash was seized, as well as assets of the accused co-conspirators.

Several guns were also taken from Houghland's home during his arrest, including a .50 caliber rifle.

Conor Guckian, 33, was arrested at the Nashville International Airport on January 13 while trying to charter a private jet to California.  He was found with over $150,000 in cash, and police now believe it was proceeds from the marijuana tracking operation.

Guckian was charged with money laundering.  He is free on $10,000 bond.

Authorities stated the investigation is ongoing.
