Historic east Nashville home being offered for free

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A historic east Nashville home is in need of a new home itself to avoid being torn down.

"It's scheduled to be demolished in about 30 days, so the owner has agreed to move the house to another property," explained Melissa Wyllie of Historic Nashville.

While the home is being offered for free, the new owner will be responsible for moving it to another location which could cost as much as $50,000.

"There's the cost of actually moving the house and then you have to have a lot that's prepared for the house to go on," Wyllie said.  "It needs to have a foundation, it needs to be connected to electric and sewerage and stuff like that, so there is a couple of prices involved."

Anyone interested in moving the home to another property should call Robin Zeigler with Metro Historical Zoning Commission at 615-862-7970.
