Ky. woman flown to Vanderbilt following serious crash

OAK GROVE, Ky. -

A Kentucky woman was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center after she was in a car crash that sent her through a windshield.

Kentucky New Era reports the accident happened Wednesday night in Oak Grove, next to Fort Campbell, when the woman was struck while driving a motorized scooter.

A vehicle hit her scooter from behind, sending her backwards through the car's windshield.

When authorities arrived, the woman was unresponsive.  However, she regained consciousness during a LifeFlight to Vanderbilt in Nashville.

Police reported her leg was broken during the crash, and her other injuries are considered severe.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

No charges have been filed.
