A four-month long undercover drug operation has led to the arrest of 64 individuals in DeKalb County.
Authorities reported the investigation began mid-September and ended mid-December with undercover agents performing 112 controlled drug buys.
DeKalb officials reported they were able to purchase many different types of drugs including crack cocaine, ecstasy, hydrocodone, Xanax, Adderall, and morphine, among others.
Some of the controlled buys were done within drug free zones, areas in or around locations designated for children. Anyone caught involved in drug activity in drug free zones generally faces enhanced charges and penalties, including longer sentences and higher fines.
Local businesses were also partaking in the sale of drugs, according to police. Undercover agents were able to make controlled buys at three businesses in West Broad Street it Smithville, one from a business on McMinnville Highway and one from a business on Holiday Haven Drive.
The operation also resulted in the confiscation of at least 10 vehicles drug dealers used to transport illegal substances.
