Suspects flee into woods after shattering gas station door

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Metro police are searching for two would-be robbers that attempted to break into a convenience store early Wednesday morning.

Officers were called to Raceway at Interstate 40 and Old Hickory Boulevard in Hermitage shortly after 5 a.m.

The clerk told Nashville's News 2 he was startled by a loud noise as he was preparing to open the store.  He turned to see the glass of an entranceway shattered.

Two unidentified men were seen running from the store into a tree line that separates the store property from the interstate.

A Metro K9 unit attempted to track the suspects, described only as two males between 18 and 22 years old, but was unsuccessful.

Nothing was reported stolen from the business, and Raceway opened for regular operations after the broken glass was removed.

Anyone with information about the vandals are urged to call Metro police at 615-862-8600.
