NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Metro police are investigating after a gunshot victim flagged down an officer in Antioch Monday afternoon.

It happened around 1 p.m. at the Mill Creek Discount Liquors located in the 1600 block of Antioch Pike.

The victim told officers he was shot in the Priest Lake area, about five miles from the liquor store.

He said he and a friend were walking in the area when someone drove up and opened fire.

According to the victim, the pair fled to their pickup truck which was parked at a nearby home.

They were en route to the hospital when they flagged down an officer at the liquor store and paramedics were called.

The victim was shot in the arm and the bullet passed through his torso.  His injuries are not life-threatening.  He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The gunman, allegedly armed with a rifle according to initial reports, has not been located.

Lakeview Elementary Design Center on Rural Hill Road near where the shooting occurred was on lockout as a precaution.

Students and staff were able to move about freely inside the school, but no one was permitted to enter or exit the building.

Metro schools spokesperson Joe Bass told News 2 a lockout is less restrictive than a lockdown.

The lockout was lifted just before 2 p.m.
