NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Titans General Manager Ruston Webster is en route to California Friday to interview San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt.

The Titans plane left Nashville at 10:45 a.m.

Whisenhunt, 51, was hired by the Chargers one year ago.  He was previously the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals from 2007 to 2012, leading the Cardinals to their first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history during the 2008 season.

He also coached for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2001 to 2006.

Whisenhunt has ties to Nashville.  He began his coaching career at Vanderbilt University, coaching special teams, tight ends and running backs for the Commodores from 1995 to 1996.

Whisenhunt is the fourth coach to interview with the Titans since last week's firing of Mike Munchak.

The Titans have interviewed both of Cincinnati's coordinators and Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell.

The Washington Redskins introduced Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden as their new coach Thursday.
