NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

An investigation that began with a tip through Crime Stoppers has shut down a Nashville store that sold counterfeit designer clothes.

The investigation began last fall into Legends Clothing Store located at 498-B Bell Road.

The Fraud Unit made several visits in November and December, noting the store carried clothing and accessories bearing designer names such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Ralph Lauren, North Face and Nike.

Detectives purchased several items during their visits, and the merchandise proved to be counterfeit.

A search warrant was executed Tuesday along with the help of federal Homeland Security Investigations, who had also been looking closely into the store's operations.

Authorities noted if the merchandise were real, it would retail for more than $1.8 million total.

The criminal investigation is ongoing and charges are anticipated at a later date.
