Firefighter transported to hospital after Murfreesboro house fire

A firefighter was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries after battling a massive house fire in Murfreesboro Wednesday evening.

The fire was reported around 5:45 p.m. in the 700 block of Greenland Drive.

Upon their arrival, crews reported flames were shooting through the home's roof and windows.

Firefighters had a difficult time extinguishing the heavy fire and had to evacuate the structure twice due to unsafe conditions.

The fire has since been knocked down though crews remain on the scene monitoring hot spots.

The home is likely a complete loss.

The injured firefighter's identity was not immediately released.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
