Commodores come up short at Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -

Vanderbilt men's basketball open SEC play with a loss to Alabama on the road Tuesday night. The 68-63 loss puts the Commodores at 8-5 so far this season.

The Commodores put together a late second half rally after trailing by double digits but Alabama was able to hold out will the help of Retin Obasohan's three-pointer with 1:27 left in the game.

Rod Odom nabbed his first career double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Damion Jones contributed 16 points for the Dores while Kyle Fuller had 15.

The Commodores return to the court Saturday at home against Kentucky.
