MAURY COUNTY, Tenn. -

Firefighters are battling the elements and a short water supply while fighting a house fire Monday afternoon in Maury County.

Maury County Fire Department District Chief Richey Schatz told News 2 the home, located on Highway 431 just north of Kedron Road, caught fire around 11:30 a.m. and shortly thereafter, the roof collapsed.

There was one person inside the home at the time.  That person escaped without injury.

Chief Schatz said tankers are being utilized to shuttle water from the intersection of Ash Hill Road, which is causing ice to form on the roadway.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation is en route to the scene to salt the roadway.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area.

The Williamson County Rescue Squad and fire departments from Flat Creek, Chapel Hill and Berlin are assisting Maury County.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
