Clarksville snow keeps kids busy

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -

Clarksville and Montgomery County got a light dusting of snow Thursday morning, but not enough to cause any problems.

As temperatures dropped and the wind began gusting, snow started falling for 30 to 45 minutes.

By 9 a.m., most of Clarksville had a dusting that covered grassy areas, rooftops and automobiles.

Many street signs were covered with snow on the east side, while the west side of the signs remained clear.

Children worked hard to find enough snow to make snowballs and snowmen.

One dad told News 2 the snow came in quickly.

"At seven o'clock we took the dog out and there was nothing out here and then at nine o'clock the kids came running and told us it was snowing. We came outside and it was snowing pretty hard and it was all over the ground," he said.

The falling temperatures and high winds kept kids from playing outside for very long.

Temperatures fell into the 30s during the afternoon and will dip into the teens overnight Thursday.
