1 dead, 3 injured in single car crash in Rutherford County

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. -

One person was killed and three others were taken to the hospital after a single car crash in Murfreesboro early Wednesday morning.

Police said Sheila Holmes, lost control of her vehicle in a curve on North Rutherford Boulevard around 3:30 a.m.

She struck the center median before traveling back across the roadway and striking a utility pole.  

Holmes and her front seat passenger were transported to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital with minor injuries.

Backseat passenger Robert Cook, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second backseat passenger was also airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville for treatment. His condition is unknown.

Police said they are searching for a fifth passenger, Nicholas Parker, who was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Parker is said to have left the scene of the accident before officers arrived.

Holmes submitted a blood sample. The results are pending.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed.
