KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -

A truck driver is accused of kidnapping and raping a woman at an east Tennessee truck stop.

According to our sister station WATE-TV, Joseph Godsey has been charged with aggravated rape, especially aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office said the victim, who had a previous relationship with Godsey, agreed to meet him at the truck stop because he owed her money.

She told authorities she got into his semi-truck to talk, but Godsey forced her into the sleeper cab and duct taped her mouth and ankles.

Godsey, 36, is accused of then raping the woman and beating her in the head with a hammer after she broke free from the duct tape.

The victim stated he also threatened to kill her, then pulled out a knife and cut her arm, leg, and stabbed her neck.

Eventually, she was able to get away and driver herself to the hospital.

His bond was set at $550,000.  He is due in court January 8.
