Goodwill expects record number of donations before new year

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Goodwill is expecting a record number of donations from now until the end of the year.

During this time many donors are giving to Goodwill in order to get their tax receipts for 2013. Any items donated before the end of the year can be deducted on tax returns.

Goodwill is expecting numbers to double from previous years.

"We get clothing and shoes  but at the end of the year we get a lot of furniture and a lot of televisions and we get a lot of toys too," said Jamie Berry, Goodwill employee.

Some Goodwill stores will be closing early on Tuesday, check store hours and locations before you donate your items.
