Charges pending following series of suspicious brush fires

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -

The Murfreesboro fire department was called to a property regarding a series of small brush fires on Wednesday.

Firefighters arrived to an area on Agri Park Drive adjacent to the Apartments at Harpers Pointe just after 12:30 p.m. to find several small fires, one covering a hay bale.

Crews worked quickly to extinguish the flames in an effort to contain them from the wooded area behind the apartments.

The Fire Marshal's Office was called to the scene to investigate because the fires appeared to be intentionally set.

The investigation led authorities to a nearby barn on Gresham Lane that had also been set on fire, however, the flames were already out once responders arrived.

Authorities reported two persons of interest have been identified as being those responsible for the incidents.

Charges are pending.  Further information has yet to be released.
