COLUMBIA, Tenn. -

Maury County authorities are looking for a man they say attacked an off-duty Columbia police officer in her home.

According to the Columbia Daily Herald, Officer Leslie Boyette told investigators she was attacked shortly after she got off work Sunday night at her home in Culleoka.

Boyette, 39, heard a noise and then found a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt with black panty hose pulled over his face by her backdoor.

The man fought with her, and tried to choke her.

She was able to defend herself with a pocket knife and get to her neighbor's house and call for help.

Boyette was banged up, but chose not to go to the hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.
