A man was shot just after Midnight on Tuesday while returning home from work after being picked up by his girlfriend and her young daughter.
The victims were approached by a young black male as they were walking to their apartment in the 400 block of East Nocturne Drive around 12:30 a.m.
The female victim told police the suspect came around from the building and pointed at a gun at them, stating, "Give me everything."
The suspect then pointed the gun at the man's head, who demanded he let his girlfriend and daughter go. The woman then grabbed her child and ran toward her apartment.
The male victim reportedly began running in the opposite direction. The gunman then shot him in the leg, causing him to fall to the ground.
Police said the suspect then walked over to him, went through his pockets and fled the scene on foot.
Canine units responded to the scene, but could not located the suspect.
It is unclear at this time if he stole anything from the victim, who was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s who is around six feet tall with a slim build. He has a medium complexion with shoulder length dreadlocks and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, red shirt, light colored jeans, black shoes and is armed with a semi-automatic handgun.
