MADISONVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - An East Tennessee college is offering a free education, free housing and a support system to former foster children.

The Knoxville News Sentinel  reports the HOPE program at Hiwassee College in Madisonville began this fall and currently has five students enrolled. Another three are expected to begin taking classes in the spring.

The program is among the first in the state, though other schools including Cumberland University, are considering similar ideas.

Student Becca Griffey, who attends Hiwassee through the program, is doing well so far and says she plans to be a success story.
