NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A total of seven people were transported to local hospitals following a two-vehicle crash in south Nashville Friday morning.

It happened around 9 a.m. on Edmondson Pike at Whispering Hills Drive when a Nissan traveling southbound on Edmondson Pike attempted to turn in front of a van heading northbound.

A 17-year-old passenger in the Nissan was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in extreme critical condition.  A fire official on the scene told News 2 they couldn't find a pulse but paramedics were able to revive the teen on the way to the hospital.

The Nissan's driver and a small child in the car were also transported to Vanderbilt.

A man who responded to the crash site told News 2 his 18-year-old daughter and 11-year-old son were in the van.  He said both are okay but were transported to the hospital as a precaution.

Edmondson Pike at Whispering Hills Drive was shut down while police investigated.  Blackman Road at Whispering Hills Drive was also closed for a time.
