NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A woman who was critically injured late Wednesday night in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 24 near Harding Place has died.

Tresa Parta died from her injures at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville Friday.

Witnesses reported the 41-year-old woman's red Nissan Sentra weaved slightly before coming to a complete stop in an eastbound traffic lane.

A 2007 Nissan Maxima then struck Parta's Sentra in the rear before a1995 Maxima hit the first Maxima.

The drivers of the Maximas were not seriously hurt.

It has not been determined why Partee stopped her car.

Officers are checking whether she suffered some type of medical issue.

Police had to close all lanes of traffic on I-24, diverting traffic onto Briley Parkway.  The interstate has since reopened.
