Man faces child rape charges following investigation

Posted:
PUTNAM COUNTY, Tenn. -

A 70-year-old man turned himself into authorities last Friday after being given multiple indictments on child rape charges.

Authorities began investigating James "Punch" Parker of Bloomington Springs in December 2012 after receiving information he was taking photographs of underage children inside his home.

Parker was working as a portrait photographer for families with children at the time.

The investigation revealed equipment was placed in a changing area where customers were asked to change for the photo shoots.

He was first arrested and made bond in August 2013 for exploitation of a minor stemming from the investigation.

The current indictments are a further result of the investigation.

Parker is now charged with the rape of a child, especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, and two counts of especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor.

He turned himself in to a deputy with the United States Marshal Task Force on December 13.

A court date has not been set.
