CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -

An active duty soldier was killed in a fatal crash Monday evening in Clarksville.

Lefrederick Gray was driving a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle on Fort Campbell Boulevard just before 7 p.m. when he was hit by a truck.

Jonathan Hodge, the driver of the Ford Ranger truck, was turning left onto Lafayette Road when the accident occurred.

Gray, a soldier out of Fort Campbell, was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to police, Gray was traveling at a very high rate of speed when he entered the intersection. He was wearing a Department of Transportation approved helmet, but it was not strapped on correctly.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

No charges were filed.
