Road rage incident leads to attempted murder charge

A Knox County man is charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot a motorcyclist multiple times in an apparent road rage incident.

WATE-TV reported the shooting happened Monday afternoon after 61-year-old Rodney Scott cut off two motorcyclists, nearly striking them in the road, around 4 p.m.

Witnesses reported the motorcyclists then followed Scott, who made obscene gestures at them before backing into one, knocking him over.

One witness, Joseph Jackson, saw most of the incident.

"It was two motorcycles that pulled up beside me and asked me to call the law and said they'd been hit during a hit and run," Jackson told WATE.

The motorcyclists then allegedly followed Scott back to his home.

Scott is accused of retrieving two guns from his garage and opening fire, striking one of the bikers four times.

The Associated Press reported he was shot three times in the back and once in the wrist.

Scott is being held on a $1,010,000 bond.
