NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A Nashville man who was involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident in Rutherford County over the summer turned himself into Texas authorities Monday.

After nearly five months on the run, Ruben Prado-Pena surrendered to authorities around 4:15 p.m. Authorities said he had initially fled to Mexico.

Prado-Pena was involved in a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 24 around 2:30 a.m. on July 20.

The 35-year-old man was traveling west in the eastbound lanes when he struck a vehicle, killing 31-year-old Cynthia Jones and injuring three others.

Prado-Pena was taken into custody without incident and is being held at a Texas jail before being extradited to Rutherford County.

He will be charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident. Additional charges are possible.
