A driver was killed after he struck a utility pole Saturday evening in Nashville.
Police reported Sammie Kinnard, 51, was driving westbound in the 900 block of West Trinity Lane before the accident occurred at 10 p.m.
Kinnard swerved to the right for unknown reasons and was ejected from the vehicle before it struck a concrete utility pole.
He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The impact caused the car to burst into flames. Fire officials were able to extinguish the flames.
Authorities stated speed appears to be a contributing factor in the crash, and there is no evidence of drug or alcohol involvement.
The crash remains under investigation.
