Holiday hustle in full swing at FedEx

The holiday hustle is in full swing at FedEx stations to make sure millions of presents make it under the tree in time for Christmas day.

Susan Shurling, FedEx Senior Manager of Operations, says they ship more than 285 million packages during the holiday season.

"Peak season is one of our favorites here at FedEx Express and our employees take great pride in the role that we play in peoples' Christmas," Shurling told Nashville's News 2.

FedEx opened 40 years ago and they see a consistent increase every peak season, much of that Shurling says, is driven by Internet sales.

"December 2 was driven by Cyber Monday that was the first one. The next one was December 9 and the next one, we are expecting, will be Monday the 16. So those are the three heaviest days for us during this season," She explained.

To help with the shipping surge, some 20,000 seasonal employees are brought in across the globe.

FedEx says you can ground ship by the 17 or express by the 23 to make it in time for Christmas.
