Driver loses control, slams into 2 businesses

A driver lost control on Elm Hill Pike early Monday morning, causing the vehicle to slam into two buildings before bursting into flames.

The accident occurred around 1 a.m. when the driver first struck a wall of the North America Administrators office building at 1826 Elm Hill Pike.

The vehicle continued travelling through the parking lot and a flower bed before striking Piedmont Construction at 1838 Elm Hill Pike.

The second impact caused a window to shatter.

The vehicle then spun out into the lot before catching fire.

Police reported no one was on the scene when they arrived, but the owner of the vehicle called to report their car missing shortly after the crash occurred.

Authorities are looking into the owner's claim at his residence, which is also on Elm Hill Pike.

The investigation is ongoing.  Charges have yet to be filed.
