NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Fast food workers in 100 cities across the country are walking off their jobs Thursday.

Workers in Nashville and Murfreesboro are taking part in the nationwide effort to raise awareness of the country's minimum wage.

The protests are part of a push by labor unions to raise wages to $15 an hour.

So far, News 2 has learned the strike is expected to take place at the Murfreesboro McDonald's on South East Broad Street and the Nashville locations at both Broadway and West End.

About 25 people have already gathered outside of the Broadway McDonald's carrying signs to support their cause.
