A woman shot her husband outside a law firm in Manchester Wednesday.
Billy Butler, an investigator with the Manchester Police Department, told News 2 the couple is in the process of divorcing and was in a mediation session at the law firm of Rogers Duncan and North on North Spring Street.
During mediation, the couple, Dr. Harry Bartee and Brenda Bartee, had a heated exchange. When they walked outside, Brenda Bartee allegedly shot her husband multiple times.
Dr. Bartee was airlifted to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. Brenda Bartee was quickly apprehended by deputies with the Bedford County Sheriff's Department, who happened to be in the area.
"I turned around and heard the first gunshot. There were five shots and then some screaming. He hit the ground," witness Jeff Sartain told News 2.
According to Butler, Brenda Bartee has charges pending in Mississippi in connection to a separate shooting.
She was charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder and booked into the Coffee County jail on $250,000 bond.
According to Thunder Radio on Friday, Dr. Harry Bartee is remains hospitalized and is listed in critical, but stable condition.
