JACKSON, Tenn. -

A man known for his 2007 escape from prison and subsequent five-state police chase has been returned to Cheatham County following his arrest in Jackson by U.S. marshals Wednesday.

Christopher Gay, 39, is known to law enforcement as "Little Houdini" after he escaped prison and stole singer Crystal Gayle's tour bus to take a trip to see his mother.

He was wanted following a traffic stop last month in Cheatham County.

Following the stop on November 15, Gay led officers on a 30-mile chase before barricading himself inside his home.

Officers eventually left the home and Gay was supposed to surrender to authorities but never did.

Gay was arrested at the Walmart on Emporium Drive in Jackson Wednesday after marshals were notified of a person in a semi truck in the parking lot matching his description.

When approached by marshals, Gay jumped over the back of the truck in an attempt to escape.

Officers used a Tazer to apprehend him.  He was taken to the Madison County jail in Jackson before being transported to the Cheatham County jail.

In addition to evading arrest and aggravated assault charges in Cheatham County, Gay also faces charges for violating his parole and probation.
