MT. JULIET, Tenn. -

A man is in custody in Wilson County after crashing his car Wednesday morning following a short pursuit with police.

Police were attempting to stop Shawn Neal after officers spotted him driving recklessly in a residential area.

After a short pursuit, Neal flipped his car, which landed on its roof on Belinda Parkway, before fleeing on foot.

Officers found Neal a few hours later hiding under a deck about 200 yards from the crash scene.

Upon his arrest, Neal was transported to a local hospital for possible injuries sustained during the crash.

Neal is charged with multiple charges including evading police, reckless endangerment and driving on a revoked license, as well as drug charges.

In the moments following the crash, nearby Rutland Elementary School on South Rutland Road was placed on lockdown.  The lockdown was later lifted.
